Check if Your DIRECTV Stream Package Includes a DVR
Before you begin recording programs, first ensure that your chosen DIRECTV Stream package has 20 hours of DVR space. This feature is standard with the choice package and above. The Entertainment package does not come with a DVR or any other features that are typically associated with a cable package.
If you signed up directly through DIRECTV Stream, you can view the package information on the Plans & Pricing page as a loggedin user. If you signed up for DIRECTV Stream through a third-party seller, consult with them to verify your package information.
All the DIRECTV Stream plans, whether they come with DVR or not, let you both pause and rewind live television. Although most packages let you record programs, only the DVR packages allow you to store programs in the long term.
Record a Single Program
It becomes possible to record a show that was aired once or even a one-time event such as a game through DIRECTV Stream. While watching live TV, follow these steps:
1. Choose the program in the guide that you would wish to record.
2. Select the “Record” option from the list.
3. Choose if you wish to record only the most recent episode or the whole series of shows. When a program is set for recording, a red circle will be placed on it.
4. To ensure the program is being recorded, go to My Library > Manage Recordings.
Set Up a Series Recording
But for shows you might not be able to catch every episode, you can set a series recording instead of individually recording each episode. Here is how:

- Delete recordings from DVR to free up space
Recordings are retained for 90 days, although recordings can be deleted by a user at any time. Rules of the series continue to stay as long as they have not been canceled.
Use More DVR Storage
The 20 hours of integrated DVR storage fills up faster than you’d expect! When the storage is full, DIRECTV Stream will automatically erase the first recorded programs to create space for new ones.
You can also extend the amount of time you can store recordings by paying for the upgrade at $10 per month with unlimited DVR space. Unlimited DVR means your recordings are retained for 90 days each and you never lose space on your device.
Upgrading also adds your capability for simultaneous recordings from 2 streams to 3. This means that you can schedule up to 3 programs to be recorded simultaneously.

The playback controls are used just like any other on-demand program. Recordings in My Library are similar to shows in your streaming platform queues, like Netflix or Hulu.
