  • DIRECTV has in the recent past changed its menu in and out systems in what can be described as new menus. As attractive as it is, this change may take some time to get familiar with. Another area that has been altered is the Series Manager which holds your planned programs for recording. If you are interested in removing old recordings from your Series Manager, please follow this guide.

    Access the Series Manager Menu

First of all, you have to get to your Series Manager menu. Follow these directions:

    1. Using your DIRECTV remote, press the “Menu” button.
    2. Choose ‘Manage Recordings & Storage’
    3. Choose "Series Manager"

You will now see the list of all the programs that have been set to be recorded on your DVR and the time they are due to be recorded. This means the individual recording schedule and also those programs that are set to record more than one episode at a particular time.

    Sort Your Recordings

In your Series Manager, when you are logged in, you can arrange the recordings in alphabetical order for title to enable easy browsing. You can also sort by the channel air date to see which series are still currently airing while the ones that are marked as ended or not airing are no longer providing new episodes.

To sort, there is the “Sort By” option at the top right corner of the screen. You can choose:

    • - Alphabetical
    • - Recent Air Date
    • - Oldest Air Date

    Identify Series to Delete

Go through your list of Series Managers and select the recorded programs that you wish to erase. This may include:

    Completed Series

If a series has already ended and the last episode has already been aired, then you probably would not need the downline scheduling future episodes to be recorded. Search for such terms as ‘Series Finale’ or ‘Last Episode’ to be sure the series is finished.

    Irrelevant Content

Are there any recordings that have been scheduled that you no longer want to watch? Do not hesitate to archive recordings of the old series to create space for the new ones.

    Watched Episodes

For instance, you may have episodes that are saved in the cloud but are not interested in watching them anymore, thus the need to delete them. Click and see that unwatched versus total episodes are displayed for each of the series listings.

    Too Many Recordings

Due to limited space in the DVR, it might be necessary to choose how many series you would like to record in total. He should first remove the series with low priority because it takes time to be completed.

Delete Series from Your Series Manager

If you want to delete a particular series, find the listing and click on “Stop Auto Recording” – this will discard the series’ scheduled recording.

    You will then be asked:

    1. Don’t they have the right to delete this one episode only?
    2. This particular episode you should delete and stop producing future episodes of?
    3. Pivot to canceling future episodes but keep previously taped in mind.

Select between option 2 or 3 depending on whether or not you want to keep any previous episodes recorded as well.

Complete this process for each series that is to be stopped from recording and also removed from the list of the Series Manager.

    Delete Individual Episodes

In addition to removing entire scheduled series, you can delete individual episodes currently saved on your DVR:

    1. In the Series Manager list pick out any one episode.
    2. Choose the “Delete Episode” option and click “OK. ”

This makes it possible for you to select individual recordings that you do not wish to retain while retaining others that are in a series.

    Check Your Remaining Storage

When you are removing some items from Series Manager, look at the amount of space that you are going to gain on the DVR. From Series Manager:

    1. For Disk Usage, press the yellow button.
    2. Choose % Free to observe the improvements in the quantity of storage space available to you.

Now, enjoy your new clean-looking Series Manager with more options in controlling which records are sent to your DIRECTV DVR!
